StudySystematic Theologyonline through RTS Virtual
Covering a variety of topics that include the History of Philosophy and Christian Thought, Theology Proper, Ecclesiology, Christology, and Pastoral and Social Ethics, RTS Virtual’s coursework in Systematic Theology provides students with up to 25 credits toward earning an accredited online MARdegree.
Beginning with Dr. John Frame’s survey course in Christian Philosophy and Thought, students will concentrate on philosophical movements from Heraclitus to existentialism, with distinctive evaluation of each school of thought from a Reformed perspective. Following a subsequent introduction to theological foundations, students will go through a survey that delves into the specifics of Systematic Theology. Led by Douglas Kelly, Ph.D., Sinclair Ferguson, Ph.D., and J. Ligon Duncan, Ph.D., students will explore Reformed theology, special and general revelation, biblical inspiration, the Trinity, the attributes of God, providence, predestination, ecclesiology and the sacraments, soteriology and eschatology, among other topics. Successful completion of this three-part course arc serves as the gateway to advanced courses in Systematic Theology, and fulfills the MAR degree requirement forSystematic I – Scripture, Theology Proper and Man.
Advanced topical studies in Systematic Theology include Apologetics, the Theology of Jonathan Edwards, English Puritan Theology, and an examination of the writings and teachings of C.S. Lewis.
Lectures from our Systematic Theology courses are available on RTS Virtual’s iTunes U page, for downloading and listening to at your convenience! Additionally, a select number of the courses are offered via Moodle.
